Wonderful memories of a fantastic guy and a great mate. We had wonderful times together growing up. He was always reliable and dependable. Not a crossword was said in all the years that we knew each other. Great member of our hay karting team and a great teammate on the cricket field and football field. We enjoyed our weekly chat on the phone to find out what was happening, how Robin and John were going and catching up on the local news.
    RIP John

    Win, Gerald and Family

The bench at our farm door
Tells the story of a thousand morning coffees…
    Of boots, and mud
    Of sand and towels
    Flies and dust.

    It sits, in sturdy solitude
    To welcome weary travellers,
    Excited children,
    Smiling visitors –
    Family and friends.

    A place to perch,
    To pause –
For some, latterly, to patiently, painfully put
    Shoes, boots, socks and laces
    Together – ready for action,
or at least movement, and the next chore.

For such a one, so much part of this place,
To sit no more; yet I picture him there now,
Smiling, stammering in his enthusiasm to convey his joy in reunion,
His love of all who call on the
    Sanctuary of this special spot.

He will ever be there to welcome us back,
    His voice in the wind,
    His smile in the sunshine,
    His heart in this place.

With gratitude for a lifetime of friendship from all of us at Mulberry Farm

  • Jasmine Castles (nee Davie) Posted 12/01/2022 10:51 am

Dear Robyn, Barclay, Scott and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and want to send you all the hugs, love and strength in the world at this difficult time. I am so grateful for the beautiful memories that I shared with John at the farm. Whether it was feeding the lambs, touring the farm or having a biscuit in the house with him and Robyn, he was always so cheerful and never failed to put a smile on my face. I don’t even think his smile waivered when he agreed to let me learn to drive in one of the paddocks (probably because my constant stalling brought about some good entertainment).
I will forever remember your husband / dad / ‘Johnny’ / brother and am so grateful that I had the opportunity to grow up with such a fun, caring neighbour.
    Lots of love,
    Jasmine
